Digital fleet card paves the way for flexible fleet management

Q1 Energie AG and DKV Euro Service work together in mobile payment project

The fuel and service card provider DKV Euro Service and the oil company Q1 Energie AG are now working together within the scope of a mobile payment project. At this year's TANKSTELLE & MITTELSTAND trade fair which will be held on 10-11 May 2017 in Münster, Germany, the companies will present the new billing options via smartphone (Bluetooth) to their customers and service partners at the Q1 stand (south hall, stand SD 03).

After a successfully completed test phase, other oil companies and fuel station operators are to join the project. The extended test operation is scheduled for autumn 2017. So far, DKV is the first fuel and service card provider involved in the project. The system is based on the so-called zahlz.Box and the associated app. “zahlz” is an internal start-up of Q1 Energie AG which is responsible for developing and marketing the company's digital products. Hence, in future, users can enjoy all the advantages via their mobile device which they could only benefit from through the classical, physical fleet card. “Moreover, the combination of the “zahlz”system and the digital DKV Card offers many new, convenient features,” emphasises Sebastian Herkenhoff, Head of IT at Q1. This includes, for example, the allocation of digital fuel cards – even temporarily. Drivers and fleet managers can view the allocated products and the bookings made in real time. “Our goal is to simplify and further digitise the fleet management combined with an increased convenience of use. In this context, smartphones are ideally suited due to their popularity as an accounting medium,” explains Sebastian Herkenhoff.

A first test phase at the flagship fuel station in Osnabrück (Kurt-Schumacher-Damm) could be successfully completed by Q1 Energie AG. During this test phase, selected users could make various payments in the shop as well as book and pay for all functions of a car wash via the “For us, there was never any doubt to invest into the “zahlz” project,” states Frederick Beckmann, member of the Management Board of Q1. Q1's company philosophy includes taking innovative approaches in their line of business.
