innogy and DKV plan to create new player on electric-mobility market

- Mobility service provider DKV and innogy cooperate on e-mobility
- Parties sign Memorandum of Understanding to establish a joint venture
- Plans for Europe-wide public charging service

Comprehensive, Europe-wide services for commercial fleet operators – this is the package that innogy and mobility service provider DKV are planning to offer. The two companies plan to found a joint venture for this purpose, which is to combine the existing strengths of each company with a view to further development. This intention has now been ratified with the two parties signing a first Memorandum of Unterstanding (MOU). The planned joint venture must first be approved by anti-trust authorities.

Markus Dehn, Vice President of Product Management in Electric Mobility at innogy, says: “We anticipate a significant rise in electric mobility over the next couple of years, particularly within our business customer segment. This planned joint venture allows us to offer comprehensive service solutions with transparent billing for EV fleets throughout Europe in the near future. DKV is the optimal business partner for this project. This service will make electric driving even less complicated and more convenient, which also gives the customer a sense of security.”

“We are pleased to collaborate with a renowned and highly competent business partner such as innogy on this future joint venture,” says Sven Mehringer, Director Fuel & Vehicle Services at DKV Euro Service.

The services provided by each company are mutually complementary. innogy has been making a dedicated effort towards the development of cutting-edge charging technology in recent years. The company provides a wide-ranging portfolio of charging infrastructure and services for fleet operators, corporate and retail customers as well as the public sector. With around 7,000 networked charging stations, innogy is one of the leading operators of charging infrastructure in Europe. It uses an efficient, scalable IT platform to ensure consumption-based billing for EV charging processes.

As one of the leading mobility service providers in Europe, DKV Euro Service boasts decades of experience in the conventional mobility business. The company manages billing services for 170,000 customers, covering refuelling, road tolls and EV charging, as well as operating a network of 7,000 public charging stations.

The future joint venture offers benefits for retail customers and corporate customers alike, and fleet operators with electric vehicle or hybrid vehicle fleets in particular. Employees will be able to recharge their vehicles regardless of the service provider, with costs billed as a single invoice. Tolls or car washing services can also be billed conveniently using this system.
