DKV Euro Service: News and press releases
"The demand for toll settlement in Serbia is very high"
DKV Euro Service is the first fuel and service card provider to offer the post-pay process for the truck toll in Serbia from 1 October 2019 onwards. Drivers will then be able to use the fast lanes and no longer have to stop and get out of their vehicle. Invoicing takes place electronically and retroactively after the toll transaction. Up to now, drivers have had to settle the toll charges before their journey. Deniz Cokcos Sezer, Managing Director DKV Turkey, talks about an exciting test phase and the introduction of a long-awaited product.
Mrs. Sezer, why is Serbia an important country for Turkish hauliers?
In terms of transport logistics, Serbia is an important transit country. International transporters pass through the Balkan state, for example when they drive to central or northern Europe from Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania or Hungary, or to southern Europe from Russia. After having introduced a solution for toll a cash-free settlement in Croatia, it was crucial to add toll settlement in Serbia to our portfolio as well.
Why is that?
Apart from lower tolls, we are the first provider on the market to offer our customers a PostPay process. In addition, administrative expenses are significantly reduced because all transactions are shown in a single DKV invoice twice per month. Lust but not least: the solution is cash-free.
How did you become a toll service provider for Serbia?
In the beginning, we had to set up proper test scenarios. The demand for toll settlement in Serbia is very high. Therefore, we had no problems finding customers who wanted to test the product with us. Every part of the process chain was tested – from the faultless functioning of the box, to the correct data transfer, to perfect billing.
How did you experience the test phase? Did everything go smoothly?
Something unexpected always happens during a test phase. Fortunately, we could always rely on the support of our experienced toll department and were able to launch a highly reliable product on the market within a very short time. Not least thanks to the support of our test customers and the toll operator.
How can carriers purchase the box and what do I need to know?
Users can pick up their post-pay toll box at the border crossing as they enter Serbia. All they have to do is present their DKV CARD and vehicle registration certificate. Once this is done, the driver receives the toll box, which is then configured at the issuing point for the specific customer. Starting on the aforementioned date, all the toll transactions made by the customer in Serbia are handled by this box and are invoiced monthly through DKV.
Mrs. Sezer, thank you for the interview.
